Over the past 10 years, there have been many studies which have provided new evidence that there is a growing relationship between oral and systemic diseases. Dental caries, tooth loss, and periodontal disease have been shown to play a significant role in a number of systemic conditions, most commonly, Diabetes, Pancreatic cancer, Pre-term low birth rate babies, and Cardiovascular diseases (CVD), such as coronary heart disease, stroke and peripheral arterial disease.
